English Honor Society

The English Honor Society recognizes students that have demonstrated excellence and achievement in English. Must be a current Junior or Senior.  Must have  a  3.5 unweighted overall GPA and a ` final grade of  an A-in all English courses-with no English marking period grade below a B. 

Sustainable membership/participation (more than 1 year) in club events which require significant writing on some level (i.e. conferences) or English tutoring OR completion of or current enrollment in an English Department Elective.

 **Examples of clubs that meet this requirement include:   Model United Nations, Junior Statesmen of America (JSA),  Mock Trial, Quill Club, Viking Vibe, FBLA, VTN, DPS, STF, DECA, etc. Documentation must be included in your application.  This is not a transcript; please download and complete this letter.


All candidates must be in good standing.  Character for membership in these societies adheres to the same policy as the National Honor Society as outlined in the student handbook.

Any student who is interested in applying should take a moment to:


  1. Review the Qualifications Grid for the Subject Area Honor Societies found below.

  2. If you feel you qualify for any of the Subject Area Honor Societies please complete the Google Form found below.

  3. If you have previously been admitted to a subject area honor society, you do not need to reapply – your status for continuing eligibility will be reviewed automatically.  

  4. Teacher recommendations will occur after the application process is complete.
