The
Social Studies Honor Society recognizes students with outstanding
achievements in the area of history and the social sciences. Students
who have achieved a final grade of A - in all of their social studies
courses by Junior year, a minimum 3.6 unweighted GPA overall, have not
received below a B- in any marking period in a social studies course,
and are enrolled in at least 1 additional social studies course beyond
the graduation requirement, are invited to apply for membership.
Students must also prove their active involvement in a social studies
related club or activity outside of school. These include but are not
limited to: Student Government, Dead Presidents Society, JSA, Asian
Club, Law Club and other activities such as social volunteerism outside
of the school.
All candidates must be in good standing. Character for continuing membership in these societies adheres to the same policy as the National Honor Society as outlined in the student handbook.
If you have previously been admitted to a subject area honor society, you do not need to reapply – your status for continuing eligibility will be reviewed automatically.
Teacher recommendations will occur after the application process is complete.
